Using personal growth to expand your business

As an entrepreneur, you likely started out by developing a concept that interested you. Whether you believed you possessed the skills and business prowess to build an international brand probably seemed immaterial at first.

The thought of creating success is exciting, but it can also be intimidating when you recognize the areas in which you aren't savvy. However, being willing to examine your flaws and strengths can be beneficial not only in your personal growth but also in that of your business.

Three questions that might help you determine whether you are focusing your energy on your strengths

No two people have the same skill sets. And not knowing where to direct your energy could conceivably harm your business growth potential.

Many experienced business professionals will encourage you to work toward your strengths. Meanwhile, to make your business as successful as possible, you might be wise to understand the areas in which you are not as strong.

Some of the questions you should consider include:

  • What parts of your business naturally align with your talents?
  • Where are you dedicating your attention and energy?
  • Are you spending your time working on what you are excited about doing?

Use self-reflection to identify the areas in which you could improve or where it would be good to utilize other resources.

Rather than trying to improve your weaknesses, accept that you will not master every aspect of owning and operating a business. Instead, refocusing your joy on your initial business concept may enable you to focus on your strengths, and that could very well be what your business needs to succeed.
